How Insole Sampling Works: From Prototype to Bulk Order

Sampling is where most delays happen — not because factories are slow, but because feedback loops are unclear. Use this stage gate with your OEM partner.

Stage 1 — Proto / development sample

Built to prove construction: foam stack, cover hand-feel, logo placement. Expect 5–7 days for standard platforms when materials are in stock. Custom molds add tooling time.

Stage 2 — Fit & wear sample

Test in the actual shoe last or retail shoe model. Check heel slippage, arch fill and edge thickness. Document feedback with photos and annotated size notes.

Stage 3 — Pre-production (PP) sample

Made with bulk materials and packaging artwork. This becomes the golden sample locked against the PO. Do not change foam suppliers after PP without a new approval.

Stage 4 — Bulk & AQL

Production typically runs 7–15 days after deposit and PP approval. Agree inspection criteria before cutting starts.

Buyer tips that save weeks

  1. Approve packaging artwork in parallel with physical samples.
  2. Consolidate comments into one response per stage.
  3. Keep one spare PP sample sealed for future QC disputes.
